We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).

Low Tide:
11.30
(1m)
High Tide:
17.24
(7.5m)

Two to three feet of lazy, sloppyish surf is rolling in, quite glassy on the faces but close together and a little mixed up.  The wind is light and from the south west and so is affecting it a little.  But it's okay and the weather is brighter and drier than this time yesterday too.  Yep, you could have some fun at the right place at the right time.

Huge congratulation to the Hilldog (Andy Hill)!!!
He's only gone and won the European Flowriding Bodyboard Championships hasn't he!  So, he'll be off to the Worlds in Singapore next month and you wouldn't bet against him would you?

Aaah, it is still so small.  It's maybe just about plankable but you would need a real big board and, although it's clean it's hardly great.  One foot or so and glassyish calf ticklers are crashing in as the tide rolls back.  Maybe later but more probably maybe tomorrow.

Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

Surf Forecast for Wednesday 8th September 2010

Those south westerly winds are likely to push the swell size up a little and with these big tides too (Severn Bore anyone?) it looks pretty certain that we can expect something bigger through the afternoon.  Harlyn seems to be the favourite on paper but it may just be worth keeping an eye on the other side, that wind may back off early and shouldn't be too strong anyway.

Surf Conditions for the Week Ahead

Westerly and south westerly winds are gradually looking to replace those beautiful offshores of last week.  The swell looks fairly consistent, mainly in the three foot range but obviously a lot sloppier and close fetch than it has been.
i think that it could be that old frustration of trying to choose between small but cleaner Harlyn, or bigger, bumpier other side.
We may just see a bit more Autumnal weather for just a wee while this week too!
Have a great week, whatever you're doing!
